Choosing a dentist has always been troublesome for me, don’t get me wrong, I take good care of my dental hygiene and make sure to make an appointment at least once a year. Last year, I started researching for dental procedure options because I needed a root canal treatment. However, the prices seemed too excessive. That was until a good friend of mine recommended me going to Costa Rica for dental tourism.
I must confess I was a bit skeptical at first, but after some research I realized it was actually a very good choice. Traveling to Costa Rica for dental tourism is actually an excellent idea for both, American and Canadian citizens, since the country is geographically close to our countries and there are many other benefits.
My preparation before traveling
As for any travel, before departure I did some good research about the type of procedures available there and the place safety. I was glad to confirm that doctors actually follow the highest quality standards in their practices, and staff speaks English.
After reading about many quality clinics, I decided to email a few, to ask for more information, I did not want to base my decision just on a website online. I was surprised to receive responses in short time from all of them. I took my time to verify their credentials and make sure to choose a quality service.
Finally, after considering all my options, I decided to go with Dr. Arnoldo Anglada. The attention I received from the first contact was excellent which helped me soothe my worries.
At first, I asked a million questions, but I think it is important to make sure you are talking to a professional. I want to share some of the most important questions you need to ask before planning your trip:
- How long does the procedure take?
- How’s the recovery process?
- How soon can I travel after getting the procedure?
- Will I need to come back for follow-up?
- Is there a previous preparation?
They were really nice and answered all my questions properly. In fact, after talking about their services I decided to get a bleaching treatment as well. Since I was going all the way there, I wanted to get the most out of the trip.
Other important considerations before going to Costa Rica for Dental Procedures
Once you’ve set up the appointment with the dentist, there are other important factors that you need to consider. Since for my root canal treatment the recovery process wasn’t as long, I decided to extend a little bit the time in Costa Rica and take some vacations.
I also recommend you research hotels that are near to the doctor’s office, so you don’t have to worry about transportation either.
Even though I was really nervous at first, I must say that my experience was really good. Dr. Anglada is the best professional and the results were amazing. In addition, I had the opportunity to do some tourism around and get to know a little bit about this beautiful country.
If you are in need of dental treatment, I recommend you take de decision and go to Costa Rica for dental tourism, the prices are really affordable and it’s an amazing, complete experience.
