Our specialty is porcelain laminate and composite resin veneers.
Veneers are thin shells of medical-grade ceramic (porcelain) or composite resin customized to fit over and bond to the tooth surface to cover worn enamel, stains or discoloration, fill in chips and cracks or gaps between teeth, or correct teeth that are uneven or irregularly-shaped.
Dr. Arnoldo Anglada Dental Care Clinic is Costa Rica’s leading specialist in composite resin and porcelain laminate veneers. We produce all our veneers onsite in our own state-of-the-art dental laboratory.
Porcelain veneers differ in several ways from composite resin veneers (sometimes called ‘bonding’). Composite resin veneers cost less and can be attached in one sitting. Since little or no enamel is removed in preparing the tooth, they can be easily replaced or repaired if they become chipped or cracked. The resin is not stain-resistant, however, and it lacks the strength and natural look of porcelain and requires more care.
Although they cost more and take longer to complete, porcelain laminate veneers look more natural and are stronger and stain-resistant. In the long run a porcelain veneer will probably save you time and money, but if it breaks it cannot be fixed. It would have to be replaced, a process that involves reducing the tooth before the shell can be accommodated. This would permanently change the natural tooth, a factor you should consider before making a final decision.
With our experience, we can help you choose the right veneer.
Good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups and cleanings are all you need to care for your veneers.
